Shaman (IRE) New To Yeomanstown Stud for 2021

Yeomanstown Stud are delighted to announce the addition of SHAMAN (IRE) (Shamardal x Only Green) to their stallion roster for the upcoming 2021 breeding season. Bred and raced by Wertheimer Et Frère, SHAMAN is a beautifully bred, top class son of Shamardal and a Gr.2 winner and Classic 3 year old with high class performances at 2, 3 and 4.

At the end of his two year old season he was rated 102. As a three year old, SHAMAN’s facile eight length victory in the Prix Omnium L. and an impressive two length win in the Gr.3 Prix de la Force set him up as a genuine classic contender. A close second in the Gr. 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains to Persian King followed by a second place in the Gr. 1 Prix Jacques le Marois against his elders, SHAMAN placed himself to be among the best milers of his generation.

This year, for his four year old career, SHAMAN was an impressive winner of the Gr. 2 Prix Harcourt beating subsequent Gr. 1 winners Sottsass and Way to Paris, before finishing 3rd in the Gr. 1 Prix Ganay. With a Timeform rating of 119, SHAMAN raced and won on all surfaces from good to heavy and also on the poly track. He retires sound.

SHAMAN hails from one of the deepest families in the stud book, as a son of Shamardal and out of dual stakes winning Green Desert mare, Only Green (IRE), She is the half sister to Champion race mare and blue hen Occupandiste (IRE). The next dam Elle Seule (USA) is a dynasty all to herself and is also a daughter of Fall Aspen (USA).

David O’Callaghan of Yeomanstown Stud says of SHAMAN:

“He is a great looking son of the mighty Shamardal from one of the best pedigree’s around, add to that his impressive race record SHAMAN is a huge addition to us and should prove popular to breeders from both Ireland and abroad. We are delighted to have Wertheimer Et Frère retain a share in SHAMAN and look forward to their support”.
