Party Sores For Graded Victory

A trip to Royal Ascot for the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup could potentially be on the cards for the Dark Angel filly Chardy Party after taking the Gr.3 Soaring Softly Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday.

The grey filly, trained by Wesley Ward for Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Stable, had broken her maiden with an impressive performance at the first attempt at Keeneland late last month and broke slowly on her Stakes debut. After travelling strongly, she made a four-wide run around the runners into the home straight and soon went into the lead, before finding plenty to deny Breeze Easy by a neck. The runner-up, who was making her Stateside debut, was a neck in front of Sail By.

The hombred filly was purchased from Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Ben McElroy, Chardy Party is the first and thus far only foal out of the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes winner Spiritual Lady, a daughter of Pastoral Pursuits.
