A Summer of Success

We’ve all enjoyed some wonderful racing this Flat season, with so many highlights for Yeomanstown graduates and the stallion’s progeny, especially our resident super-star Dark Angel.

A definite highlight so far this year has been watching the great Mecca’s Angel power up the Knavesmire to win the Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes for a second year in a row, earning her a Timeform rating of 132 and earning her the title of ‘Top Rated Sprinter in the World’ . She really is a filly of a lifetime for her owner David Metcalfe and trainer Michael Dods and we are so proud to have bred her. An accolade that earned us the Red Mills and Irish Field Breeder of the Year, at a wonderful evening in the Hangedmans Restaurant. Her smashing yearling sister is heading to Book 1.

We’ve enjoyed watching our last year yearling graduates running (and winning!), including the Gr 2 Prix Robert Papin winner Tis Marvellous, a Yeomanstown graduate from Goffs UK Premier Yearling sale when selling to his trainer Clive Cox for £52,000. South Seas is another Group winning Yeomanstown graduate, winning the Gr 3 Solario Stakes and maintaining an unbeaten record. South Seas was sold at Tattersalls Book 1 to David Redvers for 145,000gns.

The Malih Al Basti owned Arborist by Dark Angel and sold by Yeomanstown at Tattersalls last year, has proved himself in the winners enclosure and look to be an exciting future prospect. Perfect Angel is another graduate with a bright future, having won a competitive Goodwood maiden for Andrew Balding and owners Midmay Racing. Other exciting graduates include Lady Gio, Barrington, Queen Cleste and Parys Mountain.

The Cheveley Park Stud owned filly Persuasive by Dark Angel, has given us great viewing this year. Bred by John Tuthill, she is now unbeaten in all of her 5 starts including the LR Sandringham Handicap and the Group 3 Atalanta Fillies Stakes at Sandown. She is entered in the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown this weekend, so fingers crossed she makes it 6 in a row!
