El Kabeir Off The Mark With Don Chicco
Gr.2-winning juvenile and triple-graded stakes winning sire El Kabeir recorded his first winner on Sunday, courtesy of Don Chicco, who ran out an impressive 3 length winner in the 6f Pr. Red Arrow two-year-old colts’ and geldings’ maiden in Rome for trainer Agostino Affe. Bred in partnership with Mickley Stud, the colt was purchased by Horse Revolution at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale, where he was offered by his breeders. He is the second winner out of unraced Oasis Dream mare Otrooha, a half-sister to three winners who is herself out of a half-sister to the Shadwell-owned and bred Maraahel, a dual winner of the Hardwicke Stakes and scored at Gr.3 level six times, as well as being Gr.1-placed on six occasions.
By the much missed Scat Daddy, El Kabeir enjoyed a fine career where he notched up five wins and five placings from his 19 starts. He excelled as a two year-old, winning a Saratoga maiden by 11 lengths and scoring in the Gr.2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes. At three he won two further graded contests and finished 3rd in the Gr.1 Wood Memorial Stakes. He finished in the places at the highest level at two, three and four years of age and retired with career earnings of $946,557.
